 Though Massey Tate has evolved over the years, their sound is getting better and better. Mary Frances and Paul Tate bring such a unique sound to the music scene in North Mississippi and beyond. They can play any genre for any crowd! With weddings, music festivals, radio shows & more, Mary Frances & Paul can do it. In June of 2017, Mary Frances and the band were named North Mississippi's Best Musician and Local Band in The Daily Journal's Reader’s Choice awards & Best Wedding Band in 2018. Mary Frances and Paul joined the Artist Roster with the Mississippi Arts Commission in July of 2018. In the Spring of 2022, Massey Tate was chosen to travel to Dubai, UAE, to perform at the World Expo, representing Mississippi Blues at the United States Pavilion. Mary Frances Massey is a vocalist based in Memphis, TN. She has worked as a professional singer since 2006 with such companies as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Matt Davenport Productions.  She has worked in the recording industry in Nashville, New York and Tupelo. Massey has trained in classical, jazz, musical theatre and country. She also has 20 plus years of dance training. She is a teaching artist at New Ballet Ensemble in Memphis, TN, where she is pleased to be part of their Pathways program, advocating for at risk youth in the Shelby County School System. She started her first band in 2008. In 2010 she joined forces with Paul Tate and they are now known as "Massey Tate". In 2015 she released her first album, "Movin' On", which she recorded with The McKay Trio. She was a finalist in The Gumtree Singer Songwriter festival in May of 2015. Paul Tate is a 30 year veteran of the North Mississippi music scene as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and arranger. A New Albany native, he studied Music Theory and Composition at the University of Mississippi and the University of Memphis. Paul has been playing with the Invitation Band at First United Methodist Church for the last ten years. This fall he also joined the house band for Thacker Mountain Radio, "The Yalobushwhackers". Paul is also an avid Yogi. You can catch some of his classes at his space in New Albany at Tallahatchie Yoga.
